How to Be a Godly Mom!!!

Is your goal in motherhood to be a good mom?

If it is, you aren't alone.  When Googling "How to Be a Good Mom" I found on top websites like Parenting, WebMD, and Wiki along with a plethora of mom blogs articles to answer this question.  All contained tips, ideas, and suggestions to make your dream come true.

But as I shared yesterday, God's desire for me is not to be a good mom.  God wants me to reflect His image and be a godly mom.

When thinking of a godly mom, some may think of the Proverbs 31 woman.  But if you read the list describing this super mom, you may quickly become discouraged.  What we fail to realize is that scriptures of Proverbs 31 provides us with a list of attributes of the perfect woman.  Because we live in a sinful state we will never attain these characteristics this side of Heaven.  Our goal is to continually reflect more of Him in our lives.  In the same way, it is our goal to mirror the attributes of the Proverbs 31 woman because she mirrors Christ.

Godly woman. Image bearer.  Got it.

But what does this mean and how do I get there?  Let’s read a portion of Scripture from Acts 4 to see how we can do this.

Jesus' disciples, Peter and John, were teaching the people.  The priests and captain of the guard were greatly disturbed by this and put them in jail. The next day, the rulers, elders, and teachers of the law brought Peter and John before them to question them. The Bible says in Acts 4:8 that Peter was “filled with the Holy Spirit” as he spoke to the accusers with great courage.

Read the reaction of the leaders in Acts 4:13:   “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

Who were Peter and John? Unschooled, ordinary men.

What had they done to astonish and make the men take note?  They had been with Jesus.

Love this!

It is not about me.  I alone am not going to turn heads.  But, when I have been with Jesus, people are going to think twice.  They will see the love, peace, joy.  The kindness, faith, gentleness.  And the self-control, goodness, patience. They will see Jesus in me.

That my friends, is a godly woman. A godly wife.  A godly mom.

Peter and John were godly men because they spent time with their Savior studying, praying, and living life.

Want to be a godly woman?  Spend time with Jesus.
